The Baby Jogger Summit XC Single Jogging Stroller is the perfect blend of functionality and comfort. The swivelling front wheel makes maneuvering effortless and can be quickly locked into place for jogging. The Baby Jogger Summit XC also comes with a padded, near-fully reclining seat and adjustable 5-point padded harness to ensure that your little one is safe while out and about.
The Baby Jogger Summit XC is a true hybrid, the large 16″ rear wheels combined with a front swivel wheel offer the perfect mix between the versatility of a day-to-day stroller and a high-octane running stroller. The front wheel is easily “locked” for rough terrain, curbs or running with the flick of a simple latch. Quickly switching it back will allow the front wheel to swivel, giving fantastic maneuvering in tight places such as the grocery store or mall. The ride is super smooth with the patented all-wheel independent suspension, and the adjustable front wheel tracking will always keep you rolling straight. The 16″ air inflated pneumatic tires allow for all terrains, from sand and snow to trails to be covered without any issue and in comfort.
One of the most loved features of the Baby Jogger Summit XC is the full oversize canopy. It is the biggest and best canopy of any stroller on the market without a doubt. Not only is the canopy huge, it also has ventilation panels on both the back and side to allow for great air flow to cool your baby down on warm days. Other strollers, like the Bugaboo Cameleon, require you to buy the breezy canopy separately!
The lightweight aluminium frame (which is covered by a lifetime warranty) is fitted with universal brackets. These allow you to attach a snack tray, belly bar, car seat adapters, carrycot for a newborn or a jump seat for a sibling. The undercarriage basket is small-ish, but the back net pocket is large enough to fit a medium sized bag also. The optional universal parent console attaches to the handlebar and provides a cup holder, insulated cooler pouch and an additional storage pouch for a cell phone, keys or wallet.
The Baby Jogger Summit XC seat and 5 point harness are both well padded for your baby’s comfort. The seat reclines fully with a simple pull of the back strap, with the great oversize canopy still giving plenty of coverage even with the seat fully reclined. The Baby Jogger Summit XC seat has lots of room for your little one to grow since it has a weight capacity of 75 lbs. This weight capacity could mean it is the only stroller your baby needs until they no longer need to be in a stroller anymore, whereas other strollers such as Bugaboo have a weight capacity of 40 lbs meaning you will need to purchase another as your little one grows.
On top of the safe 5 point harness, the Baby Jogger Summit XC is safety certified by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association and comes with a brake on both the handlebar and the rear wheel axle. The positioning of the brake on the rear wheels also allows for a glider board to be easily attached so that another child can ride along too!
Collapsing for travel and storage is a breeze without having to fool around with the fussy folds that are notorious on jogging strollers. Just one quick pull on the strap in the center of the seat and it collapses in half! It even stands up folded, into a surprisingly compact package. If the wheels do need to be removed, the quick release clips make this a very painless and ultra quick task.
So if you are after a stroller that does it all you have found it in the Baby Jogger Summit XC, it provides exceptional performance and maneuverability on any terrain and can be purchased or compared to other strollers at this leading supplier.

5 things to look for in a running stroller
1. Large Wheels:
Strollers, especially running with large, air filled tyres are easier to push and more comfortable for your baby over many different terrains. Swivel wheels are easy to maneuver through most any crowd or street. They are great for walking, exercise or light running. Fixed wheels on the other hand are great if you want to run a little faster, longer distances or have lots of hills. Larger wheels, when combined with suspension, like what is found on a BOB Ironman, BOB Revolution or Schwinn Free Wheeler provide great performance and a smooth ride. For outings on rough terrain like dirt trails or streets filled with pot holes we recommend the BOB Sport Utility Stroller as it has 16″ tires to actually grab the surface you are pushing it on. If you are looking for something to work out behind on many different terrains the BOB Revolution SE or Baby Jogger Summit XC would be great choices with large rear wheels. For strolling or very short jogs we recommend the Baby Jogger City Elite.
Just keep in mind, “The larger the wheel the easier to push”
2. Shock Absorption:
Running strollers with shock absorption are great to run behind. When pushing a stroller with shocks you know that both you and your baby are getting the smoothest ride possible, especially if the suspension system is adjustable like the BOB Ironman and BOB Revolution SE. Not everyone will need shocks on their stroller. Here are a few things to consider when purchasing a stroller with shocks:
* Will you be using your stroller predomantly for running
* Will you be using your stroller on uneven roads or sidewalks
* Will you be using your stroller on trails or off-road terrain
If you answered “yes” to any of the above you will want a stroller with a suspension system. The shocks will absorb the energy created by bumps and dips in the road therefore providing a smoother ride for baby. A few strollers we would recommend: BOB Revolution SE, BOB Ironman.
3. Infant Car Seat Compatibility:
This is a very important decision. What often happens is that parents will fall in love with an infant seat and cannot find an adapter to make their stroller into a “travel system”. It is great news then that the 2011 BOB Ironman and BOB Revolution SE both now have an in-built Accessory Adapter making it quick and simple to intergrate with your BOB Infant Car Seat and transform your stroller into a complete travel system.
Why is this information so important? If your stroller has a car seat adapter you can bring your new baby out immediately. Most stroller manufacturers recommend that you wait until your infant is 6 to 8 weeks old for any kind of walking exercise, and wait 6 months for running. Please always check with your health professional first.
4. Large Sun Hood Canopy:
With the sun’s harmful rays you want to make sure your little one is protected from the sun. Even on cloudy days little one can be sunburned, so a large sun hood is recommended. You may like the BOB Revolution SE with it’s great oversize canopy. If that is still not enough sun coverage for you then most stroller companies also offer a separate sun shield to help block the UVA rays.
5. Easy Fold:
Look for a stroller that is easy to fold and store in your trunk. Getting your stroller open should be easy as well. You do not want a stroller that you have to take apart every time you go somewhere. You will find it stays set up in the garage for local running or walking, or worse yet, you end up buying a new one. You may like a BOB stroller with their easy two-step folding mechanism.
BOB Revolution SE Stroller

The BOB Revolution SE is a high quality versatile stroller, perfect for trips to the shops but can also handle the rigours of running on both smooth and rough terrain. The design of the BOB Revolution SE stroller has been updated and enhanced in 2011 and now has a new high tech fabric with more support in the reclining seat, a new accessory bar that will accommodate the car seat adapter or snack tray accessories, a better way to adjust the canopy coverage, a new wrist strap and the suspension system is also a bit different.
The tires on the BOB Revolution SE are sturdy, rugged, rubber and air-filled meaning it will charge through whatever you may throw at it from trails to rocks to playground mulch and grass. The BOB Revolution SE stroller sports 16” rear tires and a 12” front wheel. The front wheel gives you the best of both worlds – it swivels for maximum manoeuvrability in tight spaces as well as has the ability to lock straight for jogging or when the terrain gets bumpy. On top of that, the front wheel also features a quick adjusting tracking system that will always keep you rolling straight ahead. For added saftey there is also a one-step brake bar to lock the back wheels of the stroller in place.
The manoeuvrability of the BOB Revolution SE is amazing. The stroller feels as if it is super lightweight and turns easily with just one hand, without the need to wrestle with it like some other strollers. When running it barely feels like you are pushing anything at all. Also, the ride afforded by the BOB Revolution is ultra smooth even on bumpy ground due to the highest quality state-of-the-art adjustable suspension system that can be adjusted with ease between positions by the flipping of a lever.
The seat is quite wide and can accommodate a child up to 70 lbs. Our 4 year old who is about 40” tall can fit comfortably in the seat. However it should be noted that with the shorter seatback, very tall children will touch the canopy with their head before they become too heavy for the stroller. The BOB Revolution SE seat is made of a high tech poly weave fabric with water repellent coating and has an infinite recline strap that allows the seat to recline from upright to about half-way back (approx 125deg) and anywhere in between rather than being limited to two predetermined positions. Since the seat doesn’t recline flat, it is not really suitable for newborns unless you are using the car seat adapter, so i would recommend this is for children 6+ months.
An accessory adapter has been built into the seat of the BOB Revolution SE stroller. This allows for easy integration with the snack tray or infant car seat adapter which are sold separately. Knowing that BOB are quite innovative, additional accessories for the adapter will be forthcoming in the future i’m sure!
The handlebar is 40” from the ground and definitely far enough from the frame and undercarriage storage that it will not impede the walking or running action of even the tallest parent. The handlebar also features a wrist strap for extra safety if running. The BOB Revolution SE canopy is HUGE and will more than cover your child without the need for any canopy extensions. The canopy also has a large viewing window which allows you to keep an eye on your little one, and there is also a pocket on the top of the canopy to tuck the cover into if you’d like to keep the peeking window open.
Storage of all you need for any outing is no problem with the BOB Revolution SE stroller. Two mesh pockets in the seat will hold your child’s snacks, toys or sippy cups. A large mesh pocket on the back of the seat will hold tons of parent or baby essentials that you need to access quickly. And the large basket underneath will hold your belongings and/or diaper bag with room to spare.
In order to fold and store the BOB Revolution SE it is just a simple matter of lifting the two levers on the handlebar and pushing the handle forward, then grabbing the red handle under the seat and down he goes – simple as that! The stroller is compact enough to store and transport easily in the trunk of most vehicles. If space is an issue, the wheels can be removed via quick release clips in a flash.
If you are looking for a sturdy, well-built BOB stroller with excellent everyday manoeuvrability with the flexibility to turn it into a running stroller in an instant, a fabulous canopy and storage options with adjustable suspension giving an ultra smooth ride, look no further than the BOB Revolution SE.
